Standing more than five feet shy of his new friend, the world's smallest man shook the hand of the world's tallest .
He Pingping, 2ft 4in tall, said it was his long-cherished dream to meet Bao Xishun, 7ft 7in tall.
Mr He, 19, is applying to be entered in the Guinness World Records as the world's shortest adult. Mr Bao, 56, a herdsman from Inner Mongolia, meanwhile, is adjusting to life with his 5ft 6in tall bride, Xia Shujian, whom he married earlier this week.

Bao Xishun, a 7ft 9in herdsman from Inner Mongolia, met his bride earlier this year after sending advertisements for a wife around the world. But in the end he didn't have to look too far - 5ft 6in saleswoman Xia Shujian hails from his hometown of Chifeng.
Mr Bao wore a specially-designed light blue gown topped with a gold vest for the traditional Mongolian ceremony, and rode to his bride's camp in a cart pulled by two camels.
In keeping with tradition, the bride's attendants tried to "stop" Mr Bao from getting into the camp.
But they relented after the giant groom's sincere appeals, and he was offered tea by the bride's relatives, symbolizing that he had been accepted into her family.
He did not kowtow to his parents and in-laws because of his extraordinary height and arthritis in his knees, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
Mr Bao, 56, and Ms Xia, 28, married in a civil ceremony in March. But more than 2,000 people turned out for the ceremonial nuptials, including relatives, locals and a large crowd of journalists.
Mr Bao was confirmed last year by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's tallest person. Xinhua said his growth was normal until age 16, when a growth spurt shot him up to his current height within seven years.
He was in the news in December after he used his long arms to save two dolphins by pulling plastic out of their stomachs.
