Is History really relevant?

It is said that those who do not know history are condemned to repeat it, but this is a hopelessly optimistic statement. Even when we know it, we repeat it. We live our lives not by thinking and awareness but by unconscious obedience to forces that are built into the family and social structures that have evolved from our biological inheritances. History only repeats itself when we dont learn from mistakes of others.

  In our history books we read about how women were not treated equally as men were. In history women were abused, not allowed to own land, and sometimes were not allowed to work. This case took a 180 degree turn which changed women status. Now women are allowed to do everything a man is allowed to do. But don't get! Maybe this is a beginning to an end?
