War on journalists
There has been a boiling pot uprising against journalists worldwide. Is this profession loosing its glamour or is the world looming towards a society that does not want to be informed on what is happening? For instance, several journalists were imprisoned, attacked and some brutally hurt while reporting in Egypt. During the election coverage in Uganda, some journalists faced it rough in the line of duty and the list does not end with these few examples.
In my view, many people want to know what is happening across the world but forces behind power tend to have an upper hand in controlling what is coming in and out of our TV and Radio sets or internet which is playing a major role in the communication sector.
What about media owners? It is evident that state controlled media houses speak highly of the people in power but if that is the case, isn’t it unethical to be biased when reporting if news only favours one party?
I am yet to see a free and fair world where people shall embrace truth whether it hurts or not keeping in mind that the moment we speak the truth we forget!
