Is Uganda sitting on a time bomb?

Unfolding events in Uganda where violent scenes were the order of the day as a result of the opposition calling for a peaceful demonstration dubbed as “walk to work” against escalating food prices and hard economic conditions was marred.

It becomes an issue of concern as to what this country is turning into. People walking on the streets of Kampala were either arrested, beaten up or dispersed by tear gas and rubber bullets.  The deal was simple, either drive or fly!

I suppose that leadership at one time meant muscle; but today it means getting along with people. The opposition leader was shot at by a rubber bullet but lucky enough, it was only his finger that got hurt.

 In this case I believe that a bold onset is half the battle. If at all Ugandan leaders could realize that the key to successful leadership is influence not authority, then these scenes would be avoided.

You do not lead by hitting people over the head that is assault, not leadership. At the end of the day, a leader is a deal in hope. May peace prevail in Uganda.
