Thoughts that govern

A wise scholar once said that there is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.
I still remember the day my neighbor's son had wanted a bike for sometime. They had tried their best to discourage him but finally came to the conclusion that if he had to get one, it had to be a good one. But good ones cost money. That would certainly slow down the process of acquisition, they hoped. Within a few weeks however, he came home with the report of a really cheap bike. Under his urging, they went to look at it. To put it bluntly, it was a really bad one.

It was not only ugly but almost useless. They told him so in no uncertain terms. It would be a mistake to spend good money on garbage, but he kept begging to let them buy it. It was he claimed, just what he wanted. At last against their better judgment gave in. how exited he was. The  first day he zipped and roared with abandon through the fields. His first day was also the last. It never ran again. The money paid was money lost.
If according to the scholar there is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so. What do you think about my neighbor’s son’s experience?
